Cupping Massage Therapy

Cupping

What is Cupping?

Cupping massage therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Skin is oiled and the cups are then moved over the skin in a gliding motion. This removes knots and provides relief from inflammation.

How does cupping work?

A Cupping uses a cup to pull an area of skin into a suction that decompresses muscles and connective tissue. This promotes blood flow to the compromised area, enhances circulation and helps to increase the body’s own healing processes — almost like a backward deep tissue massage.
